Trump Indonesia project halted over environmental violations
Indonesia has halted a huge integrated tourism development near Jakarta which includes a Trump hotel property, residences and a golf course.
Authorities halted work on the sprawling development over environmental concerns at MNC Lido City.
Indonesian Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq ordered work to stop after a field inspection.
It discovered multiple violations, the ministry said.
It has caused sedimentation in Lido Lake which has shrunk in size by about half.
The ministry plans to impose administrative sanctions on chief developer MNC Land.
The development includes hotels, a golf course and a theme park.
MNC and Trump Org sealed a partnership deal just before Donald Trump became president back in 2016.
MNC founder Hary Tanoe purchased Donald Trump’s Beverly Hill mansion during the first Trump Administration.
The government said a MNC Land affiliate involved in the construction has not met several environmental requirements as set out in the original development plan.
