TSA officers injured after man storms Phoenix Airport checkpoint
Several TSA officers were injured at Sky Harbor International Airport after a man rushed a security checkpoint.
Authorities said there was no apparent motive yet for the man’s actions at the Terminal 4 checkpoint.
TSA security officers and police took 19-year-old Tyrese Garner down and subdued him but no before some sustained injuries.
One was taken to hospital while four others received treatment at airport clinics.
The security checkpoint was then closed for nearly two hours.
Garner was booked on charges of criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and five counts of assault.
"This unprovoked and brazen physical attack against our TSOs is unacceptable. We are grateful for our committed workforce and for the role they play in protecting the traveling public every day," a TSA statement said.
"We continue to monitor the safety and health of the TSOs involved in this incident and will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation."
