TUI to investigate after family complains of drug pushing and drunken twerking at hotel poolside
TUI has apologised to a family who complained their £9,000 ‘luxury’ holiday in Jamaica was more like an ’18-30′ holiday, with their teenage daughters being offered drugs by the hotel pool and other guests having drunken twerking competitions.
Speaking to the Sun newspaper, the family said their stay at the Grand Bahia Principe hotel was also ruined by stained sheets and cockroaches in their bedrooms, noisy building work going on and the children’s pool being out of use.
Michaela Travis 38, said other holidaymakers were blasting obscene rap songs by the pool and playing drinking games.
She was travelling with her husband Ryan, 38, her five daughters and elderly parents Leslie and Tim and said she was horrified when she and her daughters were approached by the pool and asked: "Want some good stuff?"
She said it also happened to her daughter, aged 17 and twins aged 14, when they were on their own.
Michaela took photos and videos of the loud construction taking place near the pool, claiming the family were unable to sit in parts of the hotel because it was too noisy.
The family, from Grimsby, complained to staff soon after they arrived on July 9.
A TUI spokesman said: "We are very sorry to hear of the Travis party’s experience in Jamaica.
"We would like to thank the customers for bringing their concerns to our attention and we will certainly be looking into this with our team in resort.
"Unfortunately, we were not made aware of the building work soon enough to notify customers before they travelled.
"However, we understand this must have been a disappointing experience and we are in touch with the customer to apologise and offer a gesture of goodwill."
