Tunisia reveals ‘long-term’ strategy for UK market
Tunisia has launched a new UK website domain name to promote the country’s history and culture.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office continues to warn against travel to Tunisia following two terrorist attacks on tourists earlier this year, one at the Bardo museum in Tunis and the other at a beach resort in Sousse.
However, the tourist board said www.discovertunisia.uk was part of a long-term strategy ‘to introduce Tunisia’s rich history and culture to a broader audience’.
Tunisia’s tourism minister Salma Elloumi Rekik will visit World Travel Market next week.
The tourist board also appointed a new PR and communications agency, Wave Media Partners earlier this year to handle its UK and Ireland PR.
Director of the Tunisian National Tourist Office in London, Tarek Aouadi, said: "They have a wealth of experience in working with Mediterranean tourist destinations, which is proving invaluable in these challenging times."
