Two Australians died after a climbing accident in New Zealand.
Brett Alexander Lentfer, 62, and James Harry Spaile, 44 were identified as the victims in last week’s accident after they fell off a cliff in The Remarkables mountain range near Queenstown.
They were on The Grand Traverse mountain trail which is about an eight-hour trek over steep terrain.
It is among New Zealand’s best routes for seasoned mountain climbers
The two men were roped together and accompanied by a mountain guide.
The bodies of the climbers were found over successive days during the middle of last week.
Both were apparently experienced climbers.
"Our condolences are with the family and friends of both men," police said in a statement.
