UK-China air services deal to boost tourism

Flights between the UK and China could be boosted by 150% after it was agreed that the cap on services should be raised from 40 a week to 100.
Restrictions on the airports airlines can serve have also been abolished, so flights can operate between any city in the UK and China.
Airlines had previously been restricted to serving just six airports in each country.
UK transport secretary Chris Grayling hailed the deal as ‘a big moment’ for the UK.
"Strong connections with emerging markets like China are vital for us if we are to continue competing on the global economic stage," he said in a statement.
"Hundreds of thousands of Chinese people visit the UK every year, spending hundreds of millions of pounds.
"Raising the number of permitted flights between the two countries will provide massive opportunities for our businesses, helping increase trade, create jobs and boost our economy up and down the country."
