United Airlines adding Tokyo Haneda flights
United Airlines is adding service from four of its busiest US hubs to Tokyo Haneda Airport.
From March 28 2020, United will offer nonstop flights from Chicago, Los Angeles, New York/Newark and Washington, D.C.
Unlike rival Delta Air Lines which is shifting all services to Haneda, United will continue flying to Tokyo’s other airport at Narita.
Haneda is the preferred Tokyo gateway as it is much closer to the city.
"Our new service to Haneda gives our customers more choice and connections to more than 65 destinations throughout Asia. With service beginning next spring, we look forward to providing convenient service for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games," the airline said.
United has been flying to Japan for more than 40 years.
It will continue serving Tokyo’s Narita International Airport from Guam, Denver, Honolulu, Houston, LA, Newark and San Francisco.
The Chicago and Washington DC flights coming to Haneda are routes being transferred from Tokyo Narita.
