United Airlines backs air taxis with $10 million bet
United Airlines is serious about reducing its carbon footprint.
It has paid a $10 million deposit to as Archer, a startup developing electric air taxis.
Still in the development phase, four-seater eVTOL air taxis could be in operation by 2024 and would shuttle United fliers to the airport from built-up urban areas.
The air taxis would be able to travel up to 60 miles at a speed of 150 miles per hour.
California-based Archer was founded in 2018, and has raised nearly $1 billion dollars.
