United flight drops 28,000 feet
A United Airlines flight headed for Rome turned back to Newark after dropping a massive 28,000 feet in altitude.
It dropped over 28,000 feet in 10 minutes, the airline said.
Officially, it returned to the airport due to a ‘pressurization issue.’
The Boeing 777 bound for Rome–Fiumicino Airport was carrying 270 passengers.
It landed safely back at Newark and passengers were transferred to another aircraft.
They completed their journey without incident.
The original plane was taken out of service ‘to address a possible loss of cabin pressure.’
