United plans Houston – Tokyo-Haneda flights
United Airlines plans to launch new Japan flights, which would make it the first US carrier to fly nonstop service between Houston and Tokyo-Haneda.
The airline is awaiting approval for the route from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Currently just one foreign airline operates the route, and United sees sufficient demand for a second airline.
This new Japan flight will enhance travel options to Tokyo Haneda for consumers across the Southern United States,” says Patrick Quayle, SVP, Global Network Planning.
“It would strengthen the economic partnership between Japan and more than 240 affiliated businesses in the greater Houston area.”
United is the largest airline in Houston, with more than 14,000 employees and more than 400 daily departures.
It includes over 70 international daily departures.
United’s other Japan flights to Tokyo depart from all seven U.S. hubs and includes multiple flights to both Tokyo airports.
