US security officer charged with sexual assault at airport
A US airport security official has been charged with sexually assaulting a passenger at New York LaGuardia.
The Transportation Security Agent was arrested and later fired by the agency for demanding the 22-year-old passenger be searched in a toilet cubicle in Terminal B, where she was allegedly assaulted.
"TSA has terminated this individual," said the Agency. "TSA holds its employees to the highest standards. As such, we expect our employees to conduct themselves with integrity, professionalism, and with respect for the public we serve.
"The vast majority of the TSA workforce serves with honor and integrity, and treats every passenger with dignity and respect."
The statement said the agency is working closely with the Port Authority Police Department during the investigation.
