US travelers trekking to Kenya
US traveler numbers are way up in Kenya, where the Tourist Board (KTB) reports almost a 11% increase last year from 2010. That’s also nearly double the growth rate of 1009.
The total number of inbound air and sea travelers to Kenya in 2011 reached 1,265,136, going above the predicted 1.2 million visitors expected.
The top five source markets for Kenya in 2011 were U.K. with 203,290, the US with 119,615, Italy with 96,360, Germany with 68,737 and India with 58,986.
The majority of US travelers – 67% — reported leisure as their main purpose for travel to Kenya in 2011, while an additional 15 percent traveled to visit friends and relatives.
