Vaccine passport ban could decimate Florida’s cruise industry
Florida’s political move to ban vaccine passports could cost the state billions and see cruise lines move their ships elsewhere. Frank Del Rio, CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, is the first cruise leader to speak out about the new law which is effective from 1 July.
"If Florida won’t let cruise lines perform vaccine verifications, they will simply move their ships elsewhere," Del Rio said.
Florida’s three main cruise ports account for 60% of the US market. He says it puts the cruise industry right in the middle of a legal tussle between state and federal governments – with potentially tens of thousands of jlocal obs at risk.
