Vancouver rated high by agents
US Travel agents who work under the American Automobile Association banner rated Vancouver one of the top world destinations for their clients.
The recent AAA survey says that Vancouver is ranked fourth in the world behind London, Paris and Rome in terms of booking preferences. Shannon, Ireland was in fifth place in the survey, which just asked agents for their top five choices.
A pent-up demand for travel is now driving the desire by American vacationers to hit the road for foreign destinations, said the AAA agents.
“People’s itch to travel supercedes their frugality,” said AAA representative Justin McNaul.
Arrivals from the U.S. from the more distant parts of the country are lower than 2003 to date, but the number of Americans travelling to Vancouver from short haul locations is up dramatically. So far, the number of room nights posted by visitors from places like Seattle and Oregon has risen 29 per cent over 2003.
