Vegas and Caribbean cruises top popularity list

Friday, 12 Sep, 2005 0

Las Vegas and Caribbean cruises were familiar results when Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates conducted their 2005 Fall Travel Trends Survey.

The two destinations repeated their popularity this year, as they did in 2004, when Carlson owners, managers and frontline agents were asked for their top destinations.

Orlando was second in the top ten fall domestic destinations, followed by Honolulu, Maui, and New York City.

The top international destination, Caribbean cruising, was followed by Cancun, Riviera Maya, Jamaica and Playa del Carmen.

Other findings:

·         Sixty-one percent of respondents said 2005 bookings are running higher than the previous year.

·         Emerging destinations were thought to be Costa Rica and Cabo San Lucas.

·         International travel is on the rebound, according to those polled.

·         Booking windows seem to be lengthening.

·         Cruising is more popular than ever.

·         Travelers are spending more money for their vacations.
