Virgin Atlantic strike swerved

A strike by Virgin Atlantic pilots will not go ahead after union Balpa forged a deal with management over days off.
Pilots threatened what would be the first strike in the airline’s 26-year history back in August when they felt the airline had reneged on a deal about how much time off they were entitled to.
Now pilots have been told they can have 120 days off a year, the equivalent of weekends and bank holidays, which has brought an end to the dispute.
Balpa’s general secretary Jim McAuslan said: "Whilst the issue has created much debate, we are now happy with both the agreement and the ground that has been laid for our future relationship with the company."
