Virgin Blue ambushes Qantas and Jetstar press conference at ATE 2007
With an extensive range of press conferences taking place during ATE 2007, international and domestic media emerged from what was considered unanimously by the media to have been an overly long Qantas and Jetstar media conference this week to be greeted with what appeared to be a very bright and colourful world, with two Virgin Blue staff dressed to impress [pictured right].
Wearing Brazlian dancer headgear celebrating the ordering of Brazilian built Embraer aircraft, the Virgin Blue staff handed out invites to join CEO Brett Godfrey for a press conference, in what was a well planned ambush marketing exercise, which did not go down well with Qantas.
In addition, quite amazingly Virgin Blue PR Manager Amanda Bolger and Gordon Young, Manager Interline and International Sales were also spotted sitting quietly and calmly in the Qantas and Jetsar press conference taking notes and not asked to leave!
Perhaps that’s why Rob Gurney was rather guarded about some of Qantas’ activities!
