Virgin Blue crew not on the ball

Friday, 21 Mar, 2007 0

A Transport Safety Bureau report has found Virgin Blue staff did not follow correct procedures during a midair incident in 2005, with about 100 passengers were travelling on the Virgin Blue flight between Townsville and Brisbane in December 2005 when a crack appeared in the pilot’s window.

The cabin’s pressure was disrupted and the plane was forced to make an emergency descent in Brisbane, with eleven people suffering various medical problems including headaches and nose bleeds.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau’s report into the incident found the crew misinterpreted cabin altitude safety warnings and failed to follow procedures.

Virgin Blue has since offered extra training to all flight crews.
