Vistara first in India to operate sustainable aviation fuel long haul flight
Vistara is India’s first carrier to operate a wide-body aircraft using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on long-haul.
The Charleston to Delhi flight was in partnership with Boeing and GE Aerospace, on Vistara’ s newest GEnx-powered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
It is the fourth in its fleet.
It used a blend of 30% SAF with 70% conventional jet fuel.
Vinod Kannan, Vistara CEO said, “We take immense pride in carrying out another pioneering initiative.”
“This is an important milestone in our commitment towards carbon neutrality.”
Sustainable Aviation Fuel can lower carbon emissions by up to 80% over the fuel’s life cycle.
The airline along with Air India and Air Asia India, recently signed an MoU to collaborate on sustainable aviation fuels.
