W Hotels Worldwide has announced the signing of its first Brazilian location, which will see W Sao Paulo open in 2021.

Owned by HBR Realty, the hotel will be located in the Vila Olimpia business district, and marks Marriott International’s first luxury hotel in the country.

It will feature 179 luxury guestrooms, including two WOW Suites and one Extreme WOW Suite, and is to be designed by Nini Andrade Silva.

"As our first property in the country, W Sao Paulo will be to be unlike any other hotel in Brazil, combining bold W design and the brand’s dynamic lifestyle with a Brazilian twist that adopts Sao Paulo’s unique allure," said Anthony Ingham, global brand leader for W Hotels Worldwide.

The hotel will offer two restaurants including rooftop dining, a pool, a signature fitness centre, and 1,500 sqm of meeting space.

W Sao Paulo nestles within an area comprising high-end residential real estate and nightlife and entertainment, and is just 25 kilometers from Guarulhos International Airport.

The opening of W Sao Paulo will become the seventh W hotel in the Caribbean and Latin America after W Santiago, W Mexico City, W Costa Rica, W Panama, W Colombia and W Punta de Mita.

"The expansion of Marriott International with this luxury hotel demonstrates our commitment to this important country, where we now operate 15 hotels," said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Marriott International’s chief development officer, Caribbean & Latin America.
