Walking tours at the Milestone

Thursday, 01 May, 2007 0

Guests at The Milestone and ’41’, two of Red Carnation’s five- star London properties in central London, will find a state-of-the-art Bose iPod docking station, with complimentary iPods available from reception. As well as being loaded with a wide selection of music from a several  genres and a children’s audio book, these also include a selection of London audio walking guides.

Guests are invited to take to the streets, iPod in ear (couples can do the teenage lover’s trick of a shared headset, but should watch out for the lamp posts), in order to find out all there is to know about a particular area or attraction. Each about two hours long, the walking tours available cover:

City of London – discovering the historic financial centre of Europe
Royal London – the palaces, parks, and parade grounds of Britain’s monarchs
Temple District – the special world of London’s fascinating and unique legal district
Banks of the Thames – from Millennium to Tower Bridge, a river in history
West End Night-Life – a vibrant evening jaunt from Piccadilly via Soho to Covent Garden
Westminster – the heart of London: Parliament, Whitehall, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square

Also available are expert guides to three of London’s most famous attractions – The Tower of London, The British Museum, and The National Gallery – to help visitors make the most of the myriad treasures at each of these. Although pre-loaded onto the iPods in English, the hotels are delighted to download guides in the language of guests’ choice wherever available.

This is a complimentary service to all guests, but to add to the attraction The Milestone Hotel in Kensington is offering a special Walk London deal as its perfect introduction to London. With a night’s accommodation, a glass of chilled Champagne and a fruit platter on arrival, English breakfast for two, a picnic hamper for two, and the use of the hotel’s iPod (with a brand new headset!) loaded with music and tours for the duration of the stay, prices, depending on room type, are from £280 to £800 per room, with extra nights available at special rates. In addition to the above, guests naturally also enjoy the wonderful luxury, comfort, and cuisine of one of Europe’s highest-rated hotels, including its incomparable 24-hour butler service.
