Wellington for breakfast for Aussies
Australians can take a virtual tour of the stunning harbour city of Wellington, New Zealand, over breakfast this Friday, 17 August, courtesy of the Nine Network’s Today Show, with the programme’s weather presenter, the popular Steven Jacobs, broadcasting his morning reports for Australia from New Zealand’s claimed cultural and culinary capital throughout Friday’s programme, beginning at 6.00 am.
Steven’s day will start with a Maori Cultural Group performance at the world-renowned Te Papa national museum, before a waving welcome on the Wellington waterfront from the deck of the departing Interislander Ferry.
He will then get to enjoy Wellington’s renowned café culture with locals, where a Fuel Espresso barista will show just how Wellingtonians kick start their day.
He will also experience a slice of the unique Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show (WOW), in which designers from throughout New Zealand, and increasingly from Australia and elsewhere, perform a show of art, movement, sound and light to create one of the most original live events anywhere in the world.
And Steven’s Wellington visit would not be complete without experiencing an insight into the city’s iconic Matterhorn, which has just been ranked the number one bar in New Zealand for the second consecutive year, and number five on a list of the world’s top 20 bars.
“Wellington is one of the most vibrant cities in the Australasian region, and is becoming increasingly popular with Australian travellers, and this visit by the Today Show will highlight just some of the many experiences which we have to offer,” said Sarah Peacock, Australia Marketing Manager for Positively Wellington Tourism.
“The Today Show visit is also perfectly timed, as we are preparing to launch a new television and online advertising campaign in Australia, as part of Tourism New Zealand’s ‘What’s On’ campaign.” “Our advertisements will showcase Wellington and the neighbouring Wairarapa and Marlborough wine regions.”
The Today Show will be broadcast by the Nine Network between 6.00am and 9.00 am Australian Eastern Standard Time on Friday 17 August.
