Wet Weather Hasn’t Washed Away Smiles On Hamilton
Hamilton Island is overflowing with extra special activities and festivities keeping guests entertained (and dry) during the recent summer rain experienced in the Whitsundays.
While Hamilton Island offers more than 40 activities on a regular basis, the wet weather has resulted in guests being spoilt for choice with several new additions to their activity program including live music every night, cupcake decorating, sushi-making classes, family movies, trivia competitions, bingo, karaoke and the popular buggy rally.
For the children, a special Kidz Fun Zone has been set up for kids aged between 5 and 14 with plenty of games and activities. The Clownfish Club childcare facility is also offering evening sessions including games and craft nights, disco/karaoke nights and movie nights. A roving magician has also been entertaining children and adults alike with balloon twisting and mind-boggling magic tricks.
Hamilton Island Executive General Manager Craig Davidson said the rain hasn’t dampened spirits.
“Some guests are still enjoying water based outdoor activities as they realise they are going to get wet anyway.”
“A family of six went on a ski kayaking charter yesterday despite the rain, aqua aerobics continues to be extremely popular and some guests are still even lying by the pool,” he said.
Fantasea Cruises is also operating adventure-packed excursions to Reefworld where guests can come face to face with schools of tropical reef fish, be amazed at the spectacular coral formations, explore easy to follow snorkelling trails and enjoy the amazing 360° view of the Great Barrier Reef.
Guests on island at the moment are also lucky enough to experience the Dream Dome travelling theatre. Here they can watch the films ‘Earth’s Wild Ride’ or ‘Oasis in Space’ from within a unique dome and feel like they are right in the middle of it all.
And guests wanting to explore their creative side, can unleash their inner artist with special art classes at the Hamilton Island Art Gallery.
Target Sports, Golf Driving Ranging and the Koala Gallery Wildlife Experience all remain open.
The weather forecast for the coming week is mixed with current rain expected to be clearing by Sunday.
