Many travelers to the Golden State are mixing visits to old familiar places with seeking out the new. Options range from natural wonders to museums and galleries. There are ideas for theme trips, adventure outings and places to taste the flavors of California.

FAMILY WINERIES OPENS SECOND TASTING ROOM
A select group of private-label, family owned wineries in the Sonoma region
has partnered to offer tastings to the public. Following the success of a tasting
room in the Dry Creek area, Family Wineries has opened a new shop in Kenwood.
Both shops serve more than 30 wines daily, offering specialty foods from local producers and works by area artists as well. The Dry Creek location, 4791 Dry Creek Rd. in Healdsburg, pours wines from six wineries; the Kenwood location, 9200 Sonoma Hwy., pours wines from seven wineries. [707-833-5504, familywineries.com]

LIVERMORE VALLEY PERFORMING ARTS
The Bankhead Theater, part of the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center,
has a packed year-round schedule of local and visiting performances. Among the local and regional companies are Del Valle Fine Arts, Livermore Valley Opera, California Independent Film Festival, Livermore-Amador Symphony, Valley Dance Theater, Pleasanton Playhouse and Valley Concert Choral. It is also the host to various traveling companies, including the Pacific Chamber Symphony, Lamplighter Musical Theater and California Theatre Center. [925-373-6800,
