NEW ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS
Now is a prime time to enjoy Miami’s top attractions and outdoor adventures, and you can experience it all for less. There’s still time to enjoy Miami Attractions & Museum Months, which runs until the end of May. You’ll find free entry to culture-rich museums, two-for-one admissions, and heavily discounted prices on family-friendly experiences on both land and water.
At the Pérez Art Museum Miami, make time to view “The Days That Build Us”, a collection of video works from artists that explores human experiences that shape our identities and builds who we are. It opens May 31 and will run through June 2.
Escape room enthusiasts can test their wits and sleuthing skills in several immersive experiences at Escapology in CityPlace Doral, or fly like an astronaut in the new Zero Gravity room at the illusion-based Paradox Museum Miami in Wynwood.
Padel tennis is getting popular in Miami, and Reserve Miami opened its first permanent club at SoLé Mia in North Miami. The two-story venue offers 10 professional indoor and outdoor courts along with two pickleball courts. There’s also a private wellness club and gym with a cold plunge, steam room and sauna.
May is the perfect time to get active outdoors. Take a leisurely stroll or bike ride on the newly restored Hobie Island North Beach Roadway, which has reopened with a protected bike and pedestrian lane that connects Hobie North and South beaches via the underpass of the William Powell Bridge on the Rickenbacker Causeway. The multiuse path runs along the waterfront and offers a beautiful view of the Miami skyline.
Furry friends have new dog-friendly places where they can play in in the sand. Along with Bark Beach in North Beach, dogs are now welcome on 21st Street in South Beach between 9-11 a.m. from April to October, and the same times on the beach at 53rd Street in Mid Beach.
The Reefline Aquatic Sculpture Park is being developed by BlueLab Preservation Society in partnership with the City of Miami Beach and will feature environmentally functioning artwork by major international artists and designers. The seven-mile underwater sculpture park, snorkel trail and artificial reef is located on the shoreline of Miami Beach, 600 feet from the shores of South Beach at 4th street. Split into three phases, work on the line will be completed in stages meaning that there will always be more to come back and see.
The Reefline is more than an underwater museum as its structures will resemble nature reefs created by habitats for marine life, it is also a free snorkel reef that will be accessible to all with a VR component in development. Within swimming distance from shore, The ReefLine will provide the community with a free opportunity to engage directly with Miami’s marine biological diversity and underwater public art without the need for boats or scuba diving equipment. https://www.thereefline.org/
