Wild fires rage in Tenerife
Firefighters are battling with wild fires on the Canary island of Tenerife.
The fires are reported to have reached the edge of the Teide National Park but authorities say the park itself is not threatened.
They also said the blaze has not affected Tenerife’s popular tourist resorts.
On Tuesday at least 1,800 were evacuated from the town of Vilaflor, south of the Teide Natinal Park, and residents in the village of Chirche were later evacuated due to smoke.
The fires, which started on Sunday, have already affected at least 2,000 hectares of land, according to BBC reports.
Another fire on the neighbouring island of La Palma was brought under control earlier this week.
