Today will be the busiest day of the post-Christmas rush for booking holidays online, according to comparison site Travelsupermarket.com.
The site says it expects to see a 36% increase in traffic today as customers make a bid to escape the rotten UK weather.
Its research says operators, hotels and carriers have slashed their prices and are offering excellent deals at the moment, with 50% off packages, deposits from £5 and 60% off hotel rooms.
Travelsupermarket researched 16 of the biggest online holiday package brands and travel agents that specialise in package holidays including Expedia, Thomson, Lastminute.com, Thomas Cook and Virgin Holidays.
Its travel analyst Bob Atkinson said: “This year there are some amazing deals to be had. Overseas package holidays, flights and hotels don’t attract VAT, so they have not risen in price like other high street products. You’ll only pay extra due to VAT if you opt for a holiday or break here in the UK.
“Deals are going fast this year.”
