Winter storm delays Norwegian Breakaway’s New York return

Norwegian Cruise Line says the return of the Norwegian Breakaway to New York has been delayed due to the effects of winter storm Grayson.

The ship was originally due back in New York on Friday morning and the following sailing will not depart until Saturday afternoon.

The Breakaway had been on a week-long sailing to Nassau and the line’s private island Great Stirrup Cay.

“Due to winter storm Grayson, Norwegian Breakaway will have a delayed arrival into New York on Friday, January 5. We sincerely apologize to our guests for any disruption to their schedule,” a statement said.

“As a result, Norwegian Breakaway’s 14-day cruise that was originally scheduled to depart on January 5 will now depart on Saturday, January 6 at 3pm. Due to the ship’s late arrival on Friday and the ongoing weather situation, embarking guests are encouraged to arrive to the pier on Saturday morning.”

That means this sailing will be reduced to a 13-day duration with guests offered ‘a refund of one day of their cruise fare in the form of an onboard credit’.
