Woman awarded millions after theme park ride fall
A woman from Arizona badly injured leaving a theme park ride has been awarded $7.25 million in damages.
Grandmother Pamela Morrison fell while exiting a Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The fall badly damaged her spine when leaving the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride.
The case against Universal claimed it did not operate a safe environment.
She had been asked to exit because of an issue with her safety harness on the ride.
She slipped on a moving walkway and fractured her spine.
The theme park owner claimed she was distracted by her grandson and it was not at fault.
A federal jury disagreed.
“She’s a very deserving person, and her life was changed because of this,” attorney Taylor Scott Kruse said.
“They prioritized keeping that conveyor belt moving to get people to the gift shop,” Kruse added.
The incident happened in 2022.
