Workout rooms new hotel trend
In-room fitness options are a healthy industry trend, with The Westin Convention Center Hotel in Pittsburgh becoming the latest to launch workout rooms.
Westin’s WORKOUT Rooms have their own private fitness areas.
The rooms have cardiovascular and strength equipment, refreshments and fitness literature.
The company established WORKOUT rooms nationally earlier this year and are now going global for the Westin brand, which is owned by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc.
The rooms, which can be reserved for $20 more a night, have been at 100% occupancy since their introduction, according to Tom Martini, marketing and sales director.
The hotel has almost 37,000 square feet of convention space and is connected by a skyway to the new David L. Lawrence Convention Center, which has 300,000 square feet of exhibit space.
