WTM World Responsible Tourism Day is a global day of action, encouraging to help drive change by educating more responsible behaviour with the travel and tourism industry and travelling public.
In close co-operation with hotels, guesthouses, tour operators and local NGOs in Siem Reap and Cambodia, ConCERT… – Connecting Communities, Environment & Responsible Tourism (www.concertcambodia.org), HOPE – Harnessing Opportunities through Play and Education (www.hopeforcambodia.org.uk), and angkorhotels.org are organizing a networking event with key industry stakeholders, at the Angkor Palace Resort and Spa on the evening of Wednesday 12th of November.
In addition to cultural performances, there will be an opportunity for NGOs from all spectrums (environmental, health care, education, arts and crafts, centres for children and vocational training centres) to highlight their work and discuss how the tourism and hospitality industry can have a positive impact on local communities and the environment.
ConCERT… is a new Cambodian NGO, with the overriding aim of poverty alleviation through better promotion and coordination between tourism and local initiatives. Following its preliminary meeting at La Résidence d’Angkor on 20th October, ConCERT… will be officially launched at the World Responsible Tourism Day Fair at The Palace.
