World’s first rotating hotel?
A Turkish group is getting ready to open what is believed to be the world’s first rotating hotel, on the country’s southern coast.
The ambitious project is the brainchild of the Marmara group, which has several hotels across Europe and one in New York.
At the Travel Turkey 2004 exhibition, held last week in Istanbul, the group’s sales manager Aylin Renda exclusively told TravelMole that the 20-suite revolving hotel is part of a complex with more than 200 rooms, in the resort of Antalya; the revolutionary building will be supported on a bed of compressed water.
She said: “It will be a fantastic building; literally the whole thing will rotate continuously so that guests will have a constantly-changing view from their balcony. They will have a sea view at certain times of the day and a mountain view at others.”
The hotel is expected to be open in March next year.
