World’s largest cruise ship heads for UK
The largest cruise ship in the world, Harmony of the Seas, has left the Saint-Nazaire shipyard in France and will arrive in the UK tomorrow.
Royal Caribbean International’s 25th ship has 18 decks, 20 dining venues, 23 swimming pools and a park with over 50 trees, some of which are 20ft tall.
One of its main attractions is the tallest slide at sea, the Ultimate Abyss, in which riders drop 100ft – or 10 storeys.
The $1 billion ship can carry 5,500 passengers and over 2,000 crew.
After a launch party on Friday, the ship will operate a four-night taster cruise to Rotterdam, then a three-night cruise to Cherbourg, before arriving in Barcelona for the summer 2016 season.
For winter 2016/17, the ship will be based in Florida, operating Caribbean itineraries.
