SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines continues to trim its schedules in response to the weakening global demand.

The carrier will reduce the number of flights between Singapore and parts of the US, Europe, Thailand and India.

All Nippon Airways is cutting international capacity by eight percent, including the suspension of several routes to China, and reducing frequency on others including Tokyo-Shanghai, Mumbai and Guangzhou.

Japan Airlines is suspending Osaka – Heathrow and reducing frequency on other routes including Australia, while also starting to launch its lower cost JAL Express subsidiary on international routes.

SIA is reducing its services from Singapore to Hyderabad from four to three times weekly. The suspension of its Saturday service will start from February 21 until the end of March.

The airline is also cutting one of its six weekly flights to New Delhi from March 10 to 24. On top of that, its services to Mumbai will be progressively reduced to four times weekly from the current five, starting February 27.

The frequency of flights to Bangkok will be cut from the current 32 flights a week to 25 a week as well.

It is also reducing its daily service to Zurich to five times weekly from March 9. The carrier has already cut its Singapore-London flights from 21 to 19 per week.

Two of its all-Business Class direct flights to Los Angeles and Newark on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will also be suspended due to poor demand.

However, flights to Kuwait and Cairo, via Abu Dhabi, will be increased.
