WOW Air unveils four new US routes
No frills carrier WOW Air is adding yet more US destinations to its transatlantic flight network.
Next up are mid-sized cities with little competition – Detroit, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Cleveland.
WOW will fly all routes for times a week to Keflavik airport near Reykjavik starting with Detroit on April 26, 2018.
The other three routes launch the following month.
Flights will be operated by single-aisle Airbus A321 aircraft.
Apart from Detroit there is very little competition for transatlantic flights.
In fact Cleveland hasn’t had a transatlantic service since 2009, and in the space of two days has bagged two airlines flying to the same destination.
Rival Icelandair also announced this week it would start flying out of Cleveland to Keflavik from next year.
Tickets for the flights are now on sale with lead-in basic fares for $99.
Fares connecting to onward European destinations including Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Frankfurt and Paris start from $149.
