WTM visitors set to pump £160 million into London economy
Over £2 billion in business will be generated over the next four days at World Travel Market.
The exhibition, which starts today, will attract 50,000 and will boost the London economy by £160 million, according to organisers.
The event, which starts today for the next four days, will generate business deals worth more than £2 billion, while more than £160 million will be pumped into the economy through money spent on hotels, restaurants, flights and other discretionary spend.
To put this figure in context, the British Fashion Council’s London Fashion Week – which took place during four days in September 2013 – was estimated to generate £100 million for the London economy.
Reed Travel Exhibitions director WTM, Simon Press said: "World Travel Market plays a vital role for both the global travel and tourism industry facilitating more than £2 billion in industry deals.
"Furthermore, the event has a massive impact on the London economy with 50,000 senior executives staying in the capital and spending money on hotels and evening entertainment, totalling more than £160 million."
WTM runs from today until Thursday, November 7, at ExCeL
