Yosemite reopens after California wildfire is contained
California’s Yosemite National Park has reopened after firefighters managed to contain wildfires that forced its closure earlier this month.
The National Park Service has re-opened Highway 120 allowing visitors to enter Yosemite via the Big Oak Flat entrance and the Tioga Road.
Highway 140 will re-open today and key attractions such as the Valley Floor, Mariposa Grove and Wawona are accessible again.
The tourist board said the Ferguson Fire is 86% contained, but motorist are urged to drive safely as firefighters are still working in the area.
The connection between The Mariposa Grove and the Valley Floor via Highway 41 will remain closed for another week, several other attractions in the area also remain closed, including Hetch Hetchy and Glacier Point.

All Mariposa Lodging will re-open today, including Yosemite West, Tenaya Lodge and the Redwoods. All Yosemite National Park lodging will also be opening, with a delay in opening for "The Big Trees Lodge" (Wawona) until Highway 41 can be fully re-opened.
The properties on Highway 140 and 120 that were evacuated and closed for a month have all reopened, giving direct access to Yosemite.
