ACI Asia-Pacific has launched the ACI Asia- Pacific Young Executive of the Year Award for 2011.

The award – first introduced in 2009 – honours young airport executives who show strong passion for the aviation industry and propose innovative ideas to address the most pressing issues that the industry is facing today.

Maggie Kwok, regional director of ACI Asia-Pacific said, “The aviation industry has faced some challenging times in the last decade. We have survived the challenges under the able leadership of the seasoned airport leaders and experts.

“But at the same time, we should encourage inputs from the young executives and it is often through innovations that we will continue to succeed.”

Each ACI Asia-Pacific airport member is entitled to nominate one candidate to apply for the award. The candidates are required to submit research papers on one of the following topics:

• Comprehensive Review of Airport Business Models

• Aviation Security in Passenger Terminal Buildings

• Problems and Solutions in the Implementation of Safety Management System (SMS)

The panel of judges will be led by Dennis Chant, managing director of Queensland Airports Limited, and the secretary treasurer of ACI Asia-Pacific regional board.

The winner will be awarded USD1,000 and a free trip to attend the 6th ACI Asia- Pacific Regional Assembly in New Delhi from April 5-8, 2011 where he/ she will present his/her research paper.

The deadline for entries is December 1, 2010 and the announcement of the winner will be made on March 1, 2011.
