The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), founded in 1955, is Jamaica’s national tourism agency based in the capital city of Kingston. JTB offices are also located in Montego Bay, Miami, Toronto and London. Representative offices are located in Berlin, Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam, Mumbai, Tokyo and Paris.
In 2020 the JTB was declared the Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Board by the World Travel Awards (WTA) for the thirteenth consecutive year and Jamaica was named the Caribbean’s Leading Destination for the fifteenth consecutive year as well as the Caribbean’s Best Spa Destination and the Caribbean’s Best MICE Destination. As well, Jamaica copped the WTA’s World’s Leading Wedding Destination, the World’s Leading Cruise Destination and the World’s Leading Family Destination. Additionally, Jamaica was awarded three gold 2020 Travvy Awards for Best Culinary Destination, Caribbean/ Bahamas; Best Tourism Board Overall and Best Tourism Board, Caribbean/ Bahamas. The Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) named Jamaica the 2020 Destination of the Year for Sustainable Tourism. In 2019, TripAdvisor® ranked Jamaica as the #1 Caribbean Destination and #14 Best Destination in the World. Jamaica is home to some of the world’s best accommodations, attractions and service providers that continue to receive prominent global recognition.

It has reappointed the destination marketing specialist to manage its marketing across Europe following a competitive tender process. Representation Plus has served as the European office for STA for over 15 years, leading trade and consumer marketing and media relations efforts across the continent. They have been instrumental in driving awareness and visitation to the South Pacific nation. Data from 2024 shows an increase in visitor numbers from Europe of 33.8% compared to 2023. Building on this momentum, the focus for 2025/26 is on increasing awareness through a comprehensive programme of trade and consumer activity. Plans include participation in key trade shows and travel events across Europe, targeted training for travel agents, and media outreach. A major highlight will be hosting European tour operators at the Samoa Tourism Exchange in spring 2026. This fully hosted annual event offers agents the opportunity to explore the islands first-hand, inspect accommodation and new attractions, and connect directly with local DMCs and tourism providers. Alison Cryer MBE, Managing Director at Representation Plus, said: “We are thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with Samoa Tourism. Founded on 1st April 1955, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2025. To mark this milestone, JTB will host a series of familiarisation trips throughout the year, aiming to welcome 70 travel agents from across the UK and Ireland as part of its ‘70 for 70’ campaign. In addition to these fam trips, agents can look forward to a host of activities in 2025 including enhanced Jamaica Rewards incentives, exclusive trade competitions and prize draws, a dedicated trade event at Jamaica Travel Market, sensory experiences including Jamaican rum, coffee and chocolate, and special recognition for top-performing agents. This landmark initiative reflects the JTB’s ongoing commitment to the UK travel trade and its belief in the vital role agents play in promoting destination Jamaica. Each fam trip will showcase different aspects of the island, from luxury to romance, partnering with hotels and excursion providers. JTB is also supporting homeworkers by introducing hybrid-fam trips tailored to this growing sector. You’ll journey through the lush Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park, cross shallow streams, and reach a stunning waterfall, where you can relax before heading back. Hybrid fam trips 2025 saw the introduction of JTB’s hybrid familiarisation trips, specifically designed for home-based travel agents. Donovan Donaldson was recently introduced as Business Development Officer, dedicated to developing relationships with the homeworker agents, which constitute approximately 60% of travel agents. In his new role, Donovan is leading the hybrid fam trips, enabling agents to manage their work commitments in the mornings while enjoying Jamaica’s incredible resorts, iconic attractions, and cultural experiences in the afternoons. Eight fam trips are planned for 2025, with one coinciding with Carnival in Jamaica in April, so agents can really get a feel for the island during this time.
