MSC Cruises is excited to welcome back 5’s hit drama series, The Good Ship Murder.   Today, MSC Cruises announced a major new order for four next-generation cruise vessels and two additional options from MEYER WERFT in Papenburg marking the launch of its new “New Frontier” platform - a brand-new class of ships. The order will secure full capacity at the shipyard well into the next decade.   The announcement was made today at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche and Energy Minister-President Lower Saxony, Olaf Lies, MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago and MEYER WERFT’s CEO Dr. Bernd Eikens.   Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, said: “MEYER WERFT’s track record, expertise and proud history make it a true beacon of European shipbuilding.   MSC Cruises today revealed an expanded list of entertainment activities being rolled out at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve from January 2026 onwards.   As part of the cruise line’s commitment to offering an outstanding guest experience, these new offerings at Ocean Cay - MSC Cruises’ private island in The Bahamas - will provide families with unforgettable memories and unique moments.   Ocean Cay, a former industrial site, serves as a unique private island destination where guests can relax on eight pristine beaches, explore beautiful turquoise waters and learn about the MSC Foundation’s coral conservation efforts at the island’s new Marine Conservation Centre.   MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique today announced a major extension of their long-standing relationship with orders for two additional World Class ships – numbers 7 and 8 – due to be delivered in 2030 and 2031.   The announcement was made at a double celebration event to mark important maritime milestones for two other World Class ships currently under construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, the float out of MSC World Asia and coin ceremony of MSC World Atlantic.   Valued at €3.5 billion, the orders announced today bring MSC Cruises’ total investment in the four ships ordered in France this year to nearly €7 billion. Together with the World Class vessels already under construction, this brings the company’s total direct investment currently committed in France to €10.5 billion. MSC World Asia will be delivered in November 2026 ready to sail in the Mediterranean and from December will offer seven-night sailings to the most popular destinations in the Western Mediterranean – Barcelona (Spain), Marseille (France), Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina (Italy) and Valletta (Malta)   MSC World Atlantic coin ceremony - A traditional coin ceremony for MSC World Atlantic also took place today, when the vessel’s godmothers from both the cruise line and the shipyard placed commemorative coins inside the ship as a sign of blessing during construction and to bring good fortune to the vessel. MSC World Atlantic will enter service in 2027 and will be deployed in the Caribbean Sea from Port Canaveral, U.S, for winter 2027-28.   MSC Cruises’ godmother was Lynn Torrent, Lynn is the President of MSC Cruises North America, overseeing all commercial and operational functions across the region. A seasoned cruise industry executive, she is instrumental in advancing MSC Cruises’ strategic growth across the North American market.   From Chantiers de L’Atlantique, the Godmother was Agnès Sahores, Smart Yard Improvement Manager, who has been working at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique for 25 years. She oversees implementing the company’s improvement plan, which focuses on industrial performance, innovation, environmental efficiency, and collective success.

• Refurbishment of MSC Magnifica has officially begun with ship entering dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta
• The ship is one of two Musica Class ships receiving major enhancements at the Maltese shipyard and to have the MSC Yacht Club installed plus other venues enhanced 
• The other ship, MSC Poesia, is scheduled to enter dry dock in February and be completed in time for its MSC Yacht Club debut in Alaska in May 2026

  Work has begun on the upgrade of MSC Cruises’ MSC Magnifica, marking the start of an extensive enhancement programme that underscores the cruise line’s ongoing investment in enhancing the guest experience across its fleet.   MSC Magnifica has been in service since 2010 and is the first of two Musica Class ships due to enter dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta for such an upgrade.   The ship will receive the MSC Yacht Club with 63 new suites, two new specialty dining venues — Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar - along with an enhanced MSC Aurea Spa and Technogym® Fitness Centre complete with Gentleman’s Barber, different workout studios and outdoor Aurea area.   The work is expected to be completed in December, with the full MSC Yacht Club experience available in Summer 2026 when MSC Magnifica sails Northern Europe itineraries.   MSC Cruises’ CEO Gianni Onorato said: “These upgrades highlight our commitment to offering guests the best possible experience and facilities across our fleet. By introducing our MSC Yacht Club to these ships - along with new restaurants, gyms, and wellness spaces - we are giving guests more exclusivity and choice than ever before. The MSC Yacht Club is one of our most highly regarded products, known for its exceptional service, elegant spaces, and exclusive amenities and we are proud to bring this experience to MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia – in time for our first Alaska season and the 2027 MSC World Cruise.”   Sister ship MSC Poesia will then enter dry dock at the same shipyard in February 2026 to receive her upgrades, which include the MSC Yacht Club with 69 suites and an  All-Stars Sports Bar, plus the same specialty restaurants and gym and spa upgrades coming to MSC Magnifica, ready to rejoin the fleet in time for her Alaska debut in May 2026.   These enhancements align with MSC Cruises' commitment to enhancing guest experiences across its fleet, ensuring that both MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia continue to offer modern amenities and high-quality services to its guests. They represent the most extensive upgrade and refitting projects undertaken by the cruise line in the last decade, fully designed and managed in-house by MSC Cruises’ Technical Department.   Palumbo Malta Shipyard is a strategic hub for MSC Cruises’ fleet maintenance and high-quality refurbishing projects for ships in Europe.   MSC Magnifica will set sail from Warnemünde, Germany on 16 May 2026 to Northern Europe, visiting Denmark, the Baltics, Scandinavia and Finland, before offering 3-to 8-night Mediterranean departures later in the year to ports including Barcelona, Civitavecchia for Rome and Marseille. She will then embark on the 2027 MSC World Cruise, where the MSC Yacht Club will make its debut on this 121-night journey visiting 45 spectacular destinations across 25 countries.   MSC Poesia will offer seven-night sailings from Seattle, May through September 2026, before offering guests round trip sailings from Miami to the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Colombia, Costa Rica, Aruba, Curaçao, and Belize, in winter 2026/2027.   Suites for MSC Magnifica, and MSC Poesia’s Yacht Club are now available to book.

  MSC Group’s Cruise Division has reached another major milestone in its decarbonisation journey, as two of its vessels – MSC World Europa and EXPLORA II – connected to shore power at Valletta’s Grand Harbour on consecutive days, October 15 and yesterday October 16, 2025.   The occasion was marked during a high-level event in Valletta attended by the Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Robert Abela, and senior government officials.   The back-to-back connections mark a first for the company, with EXPLORA II becoming the first Explora Journeys’ ship to connect to shore-side electricity in Europe.   Together, these operations represent a significant step forward in the Cruise Division’s global shore power programme. Since the inauguration of the shore power facility in Valetta in 2024 – when MSC World Europa became the first vessel to use the facility – MSC Cruises’ ships have spent about 300 hours connected to shore power in Valletta, effectively eliminating half an  entire month’s worth of local emissions that would have otherwise been produced while berthed.   Both connections took place alongside the GreenPort Congress 20th Anniversary & Decarbonising the Future (DTF) Conference 2025, underscoring the Cruise Division’s ongoing commitment to cleaner port operations and Malta’s pivotal role in supporting the European Union’s Fit for 55 plan, which requires all essential European ports to be equipped for shore power use by 2030.   Prime Minister of Malta, Dr Robert Abela, underlined: “Our collaboration with global partners such as MSC Group shows how Malta can combine economic growth with environmental progress. The shore-power system at the Grand Harbour is a national investment in cleaner air, quieter communities, and sustainable tourism. Today, 18 of MSC Group’s Cruise Division’s 25 vessels are equipped to connect to shore-side electricity, with additional installations under way.   In 2024, MSC Cruises connected to shore power in 13 ports and made 142 successful connections, more than triple the previous year.
