  Hyatt plans 30% boost to UK portfolio - News & announcements

  Hyatt Hotels Corporation plans to grow its UK portfolio by more than 30% through 2026, adding more than 1,000 rooms. It includes the recent opening of dual-branded Hyatt Place Leeds and Hyatt House Leeds. Upcoming openings include Hyatt Place London Paddington and Hyatt Regency London Olympia, which are anticipated to create around 250 new UK jobs over the next two years. The just opened 217-key Hyatt Place Leeds caters to multi-tasking travellers, with a convenient guest experience while the 88-key Hyatt House Leeds is designed for extended stays, with tailored living accommodations such as a well-equipped kitchenette and apartment-style amenities. Shared amenities include a 24/7 fitness centre, bar and marketplace, as well as meeting spaces, Azotea rooftop bar and Zoom restaurant. Hyatt Place London Paddington: This hotel will mark the third Hyatt Place property in the capital, offering 24/7 conveniences with 87 rooms. Hyatt Regency London Olympia will be the fifth Hyatt Regency hotel in London and seventh in the UK. The hotel is housed within a listed Art Deco building, with over 200 rooms. Hyatt has more than doubled the number of rooms in the country and tripled its number of properties since 2017. The Hyatt portfolio has grown to 17 hotels in nine brands in the UK, with the opening of Park Hyatt London River Thames marking the latest debut in October 2024. In Q4 2024, Hyatt said it saw a 5% increase in MICE business compared to Q4 2023. “The UK remains a priority growth market for Hyatt. We have no doubt the UK will continue to be a strong contributor to Hyatt’s growth journey in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East,” said Anna Corkill, Regional VP of Development for the UK & Ireland. “Sustaining momentum is key, but we want to grow sensibly and intentionally. We see great potential in locations like Oxford, Cambridge, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cardiff, York, Bath, Dublin and Belfast.”

  The brand expects to grow its global footprint by 50 percent by the end of 2028 with artistically curated spaces that inspire exploration and serve as a local home base in every destination.

    The Hyatt Centric brand, highlighted by a global portfolio of vibrant hotels with culturally immersive experiences and spaces, celebrates its continued expansion in popular hubs that place guests and World of Hyatt members in the heart of the action so they never miss a moment of adventure. In 2024, the brand saw unprecedented growth, with hotel openings in a few of the world’s most exciting cities, including Cairo, Egypt, Shanghai, China, San José, Costa Rica, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and more.   Building on its impressive momentum, the brand plans to introduce over 35 new hotels worldwide by the end of 2028.  This planned expansion will bolster the brand’s portfolio by 50 percent and reach over 100 Hyatt Centric hotels globally by 2029. Several planned openings will accelerate the brand’s strategic growth following its 2024 debut in new markets, including Hyatt Centric San José Escazú, the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Costa Rica, Hyatt Centric Malta, the first in Malta, Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo, the first in the Caribbean and Hyatt Centric Zhongshan Park Shanghai, the first in Shanghai.   Newly executed deals and upcoming openings primed for relaxing, recharging, socializing and preparing for the next adventure include:   Americas  

  • Hyatt Centric Chicago O’Hare (expected to resume operations in 2025) is being rebranded from Hyatt Rosemont, is ideally located near O’Hare International Airport, and is undergoing property-wide renovations inclusive of 206 newly designed guestrooms, updated meeting and event spaces, refreshed lobby and a new restaurant.

  • Hyatt Centric Isla Verde San Juan (expected to open in 2025) will be the first Hyatt Centric branded hotel in Puerto Rico, located in the buzzy Isla Verde neighborhood, offering a resort-style pool deck, open-air beer garden and private beach club access.

  • Hyatt Centric Queretaro (expected to open in 2025) will debut in a new market for Hyatt, will be ideally located near the Historic Monument Zone of Querétaro, Mexico, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, blending culturally authentic elements into the design, dining and rooftop pool.

  • Hyatt Centric Cincinnati (expected to open in 2026) will be the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Ohio offering easy access to the heart of bustling downtown Cincinnati.

  • Hyatt Centric Victoria – Old Town (expected to open in 2026) will be the first Hyatt branded hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, will be centrally located in Old Town Victoria, home to Canada's oldest Chinatown, and will offer 135 rooms and suites, and a dynamic restaurant, bar, lounge, and coffee shop.

  • Hyatt Centric Winnipeg Downtown (expected to open in 2026) will be the second Hyatt Centric hotel in Canada, offering a signature restaurant and bar and an open concept lobby capturing the local spirit.

    Asia Pacific  

  • Hyatt Centric Bengaluru Airport (expected to open in 2026) will boast 166 guestrooms in Bengaluru with easy access to the Bengaluru International airport.

  • Hyatt Centric Electronic City Bangalore (expected to open in 2026) will be centrally located in the megacity of Bangalore, known as India’s technology hub.

  • Hyatt Centric East Taipei (expected to open in 2026) will be in the cultural center of Taipei, marking the fifth Hyatt branded hotel and first Hyatt Centric hotel in Taiwan.

  • Hyatt Centric Shanghai Jinqiao (expected to open in 2026) will offer 224 modern guestrooms with decor inspired by the newly built Pudong Football Stadium, located adjacent to the hotel.

  • Hyatt Centric TODTOWN Shanghai (expected to open in 2026) will grow the Hyatt Centric brand’s presence in Shanghai and be located in a mixed-use complex with shopping, offices and residential apartments.

  • Hyatt Centric Tianxin Changsha (expected to open in 2026) will debut in the capital of central China’s Hunan province where guests can enjoy unobstructed views of the Xiangjiang River.

  • Hyatt Centric Vrindavan (expected to open in 2026) will expand the brand’s footprint in northern India and will be located in the heart of a city known for its spiritual significance and architectural beauty.

  • Hyatt Centric The Ring Chengdu (expected to open in 2025) will mark the entry of the brand into China’s southwest region with 259 modern accommodations located in the heart of the city’s bustling downtown area and inspired by the neighborhood’s industrial past.

  • Hyatt Centric Sapporo (expected to open in 2026) will become the first Hyatt Centric branded hotel in Hokkaido, northern Japan. Situated in the historical heart, near the city’s famed Odori Park, the hotel will feature guestrooms with panoramic views.

    Europe  

  • Hyatt Centric Reims (expected to open in 2025) will be located just a short distance from the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, offering spectacular canal views and three unique French restaurants.

  • Hyatt Centric Altstadt Hamburg (expected to open in 2026) will mark the first Hyatt Centric branded hotel in Germany, will be located on Moenckebergstrasse, one of Hamburg’s most vibrant shopping streets, and will feature a top-floor panoramic restaurant and bar.

  • Hyatt Centric Reykjavik (expected to open in 2026) will debut as the first Hyatt branded hotel in Iceland and will be situated on the main street of the capital city with a rooftop bar overlooking the city.

    Middle East  

  • Hyatt Centric Madinah KEC (expected to open in 2028) is set to mark the debut of the Hyatt Centric brand in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, providing a local home-base for savvy travelers returning from city exploration. The hotel will feature 130 modern rooms and suites with art and styling elements that celebrate the city’s character.

    A Central Launchpad for Your Next Adventure   Hyatt Centric hotels offer signature touchpoints and curated programming that spark curiosity and elevate the guest experience, including locally inspired art, pop-up concerts and gallery exhibitions, buzzy social spaces and unique food and beverage offerings.  

  • Live the Local Art: Revel in spectacular displays of locally inspired art at hotels like Hyatt Centric Cairo West, which opened its doors in 2024 with mesmerizing mirror installations and intricate Egyptian statues and sculptures that adorn the walls.   Hyatt Hotels Corporation has completed on an agreement with Grupo Piñero for a strategic joint venture to manage Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts-branded properties and own the Bahia Principe brand. The 50/50 joint venture increases Hyatt’s all-inclusive portfolio. The agreement brings 22 resorts totaling approximately 12,000 rooms, including 21 resorts under the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts brand located across the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, and Spain. It also paves the way for the Cayo Levantado Resort in the Dominican Republic to join Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection. Grupo Piñero is the owner of the resorts managed by the joint venture. The JV will provide expanded opportunities for growth with travelers in the Americas and other key markets. Bahia Principe’s CEO Julio Pérez assumes leadership of the joint venture, with Grupo Piñero’s current Global Chief Executive Officer Encarna Piñero serving as Chairman of the Board. Izet Mahalbasic, VP, Hotel Finance for Hyatt, will join the joint venture as Chief Financial Officer. “This joint venture enhances Hyatt’s all-inclusive platform across multiple dimensions: more rooms, an expanded portfolio and more offerings on more stay occasions for guests and World of Hyatt members,” said Mark Hoplamazian, CEO, Hyatt. “Grupo Piñero has built an exceptional family legacy over the past 50 years, and together we look forward to driving sustainable growth.” This transaction builds on Hyatt’s growth journey in all-inclusive, which started with the creation of the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands in 2013. It continued with Apple Leisure Group in 2021, which expanded to more than 140 properties globally across 10 brands in Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection by the end of 2024. Details of when and how Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts will participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program will be shared at a later date.

  Vegas icon Rio Hotel & Casino joins Destination by Hyatt brand - News & announcements

  The newly reimagined Rio Hotel & Casino has officially joined the Destination by Hyatt brand. It follows the completion of the resort’s first phase of a $340 million property-wide transformation. It is the largest property in Hyatt’s global hotel portfolio, based on room count, and the first Destination by Hyatt hotel in Nevada. "Rio is an icon reborn, and its legacy and unique character live on. We are excited for our members and guests to discover the experiences that make Rio Las Vegas a standout destination," said Mike Waddell, SVP, Global Franchise Operations, Hyatt. Phase one of Rio’s $340 million renovation included the full redesign and modernization of the all-suite resort’s 1,500-room Ipanema Tower. The hotel also recently unveiled six new culinary destinations within the new Canteen Food Hall There is 220,000 square feet of newly renovated meetings and convention space, a revamped pool district with four pools catering to both adults and families, and more than 500 new slot machines and 30 table games on the resort’s casino floor. Other highlights from the resort’s phase one renovation include the openings of: Lapa Lounge, a sophisticated cocktail destination inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Lapa neighborhood, and Luckley Tavern & Grill, a “come as you are” casual dining destination. Phase two of the resort’s renovation will focus on completely redesigning and modernizing the Masquerade Tower guestrooms and public spaces. “Rio’s Destination by Hyatt brand affiliation marks an exciting new chapter for our resort through our progressive evolution,” said Patrick Miller, President and CEO of Rio Hotel & Casino. Rio participates in the World of Hyatt rewards program, allowing members to earn and redeem points for eligible stays and enjoy waived resort fees on Free Night Awards.   Hyatt Hotels Corp just announced the completion of a hotel acquisition of the me and all hotels brand from Lindner Hotels AG. Lindner Hotels began a strategic collaboration with Hyatt in 2022 which has increased Hyatt’s brand footprint in Germany and Europe. This has seen subsequent integration of most Lindner Hotels & Resorts and me and all hotels into the World of Hyatt loyalty program. After the hotel acquisition transaction, me and all hotels, which is currently a nested brand within Hyatt’s JdV by Hyatt brand, will become a standalone brand within Hyatt’s portfolio. Since launching in 2016 as Lindner’s urban lifestyle sister brand, the me and all hotels portfolio has grown to six hotels and 1,000+ rooms in city locations across Germany. The brand’s development pipeline of conversions and new builds includes Berlin (slated to open in 2024), Hamburg, Leipzig and Stuttgart (all openinf in 2026). “The Lindner team has built an incredible brand with me and all hotels, and we believe the brand has great potential for expansion across Europe,” said Felicity Black-Roberts, SVP Development EAME, Hyatt. “Our collaboration with Lindner was a significant step forward for our distribution in the EAME region.”

    Expected to open in summer 2024, Hyatt Regency Panama City will help Hyatt grow its brand in a bustling leisure and business travel market   Hyatt Hotels Corporation  in collaboration with Hotel Properties of Panama Inc., today announced the planned expansion of the Hyatt Regency brand in the Latin America & Caribbean region with Hyatt Regency Panama City, expected to open in summer 2024. Hyatt Regency Panama City will be the first Hyatt Regency hotel in Panama City and the third Hyatt hotel in Panama. Perfectly situated for business and leisure travelers, the hotel will be in the heart of Panama City’s business district, less than 10 miles from Tocumen International Airport, near the Multiplaza shopping mall and the new Amador Convention Center.   Hyatt Regency Panama City will offer 382 guestrooms and suites spread across two towers, as well as a pool, state-of-the-art gym, variety of restaurants including a wine bar and coffee shop and 20,000 sq ft. of meeting and event space including two ballrooms, an outdoor terrace for events and a Hyatt Regency Broadcast Lounge, allowing guests the option to attend a live conference in a hybrid manner. The hotel’s convenient location in the Panamanian capital will provide easy access to public transportation and area attractions like cinemas, restaurants, retailers, recreational activities and more.   Hyatt Hotels Corporation has debuted in Montenegro with the first phase opening for Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort in Kotor Bay. It is the first Hyatt hotel in Montenegro. It embraces a contemporary eco-design approach with a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. Once finishing touches are completed, Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort will have 205 guest rooms, two outdoor pools, an indoor pool, and private waterfront access. The resort will house a fitness centre, a dedicated space for yoga and pilates, and expansive spa facilities. Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort is also expected to feature six dining venues. It will also have a range of event spaces. “The Balkan region serves as a driving force for the rapid growth of the hospitality industry,” said Takuya Aoyama, development VP.   Hyatt Hotels Corporation is expanding the Inclusive Collection in Greece. It is a portfolio of all-inclusive luxury resort brands which are part of World of Hyatt. In collaboration with AF Partners the new Zoëtry Halkidiki will open in mid-2024. Located in the vicinity of Sani, the resort will be perched cliffside offering views of Mount Olympus and the Aegean Sea. A lift provides guests with exclusive access to the beach from the resort. The luxury resort will feature 105 rooms and suites, including swim-out options. "We are thrilled to expand the Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts brand into Greece, a market that is ripe with opportunity," said Javier Coll, Inclusive Collection, Hyatt. The deal is expected to expand Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, which was introduced following Hyatt’s acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2020, by nearly 2,000 rooms.   Two Be Live Hotels properties in the Dominican Republic, owned by Spanish hospitality company Globalia, will be renovated and transformed into Sunscape Resorts & Spas.
