easyJet holidays has welcomed its very first customers to Egypt with the launch of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada holidays.

The tour operator, who is the first UK holiday provider to take customers back to Egypt, had originally announced the start of a wide variety of brand new, handpicked holidays to Egypt in June 2020 to take off in winter 2020, but ongoing travel restrictions as a result of Covid-19 meant the launch was delayed.

Following the removal of restrictions. customers arriving into Sharm el Sheikh airport on Friday were greeted with bright blue skies and temperatures of over 30 degrees, before being whisked off to enjoy their late summer holiday. The first customers holidaying in Hurghada will land today.

Dean Thomas, easyJet holidays’ Head of Customer Operations who was at Sharm el Sheikh airport to greet the arrivals, said: “We announced our Egypt holidays a long time ago and we’re really excited to be here greeting our first customers and sending them off on their well-earned breaks. We’ve had a fantastic response already from the customers we met and we’re seeing and hearing the excitement of others who are travelling this week.

“Egypt holidays have something for everyone, from luxury to family to adults only, so we’re really excited to bring many more people out here for some winter sun this season.

“And we’d like to say a huge thank you to our team and partners on the ground in Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada who are helping us create fantastic holiday experiences.”
