easyJet and easyJet holidays today celebrated the launch of their first flights and package holidays from London Gatwick to the beautiful island of Sal in Cape Verde.

easyJet’s first ever sub-Saharan service took off this morning for the first time and will operate every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout the year, with package holidays available to a range of hotels.

To mark the occasion, customers were surprised with giveaways at the boarding gate, including a goodie bag from the airline and package holiday company, containing travel essentials such as a travel adaptor and a travel bag. Upon arrival in Sal, customers were met with a welcome ceremony including local musicians.

Located off the west coast of Africa, Cape Verde is the latest destination to be added to the airline’s growing network. Both flights and package holidays are proving popular with British holidaymakers looking to enjoy a tropical paradise that offers a great value alternative to the likes of the Caribbean.

Great value fares are available from £129.99* on easyJet.com and via the mobile app. Brilliant package holidays at prices that can’t be beaten are available from £600, right up until 30 October 2026.

All easyJet holidays packages include flights, hotel, with 23kg luggage and transfers on beach holidays and all covered by its Ultimate Flexibility, offering freedom to change a booking, a refund guarantee, and best price guarantee.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said:

“We know our customers are always looking for exciting new places to explore, and our flights and package holidays to Sal in Cape Verde, off the coast of sub-Saharan Africa, offer the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure, all for fantastic value.

“We are proud to be offering even more choice than ever before, so our customers can explore more top beach destinations across our network throughout the year. With hundreds of package holidays available via easyJet holidays, there’s something for everyone across Europe and beyond.”

Paul Bixby, easyJet holidays Chief Commercial Officer, said:

That’s why we’re thrilled to be offering our brilliant package holidays, whether it’s a family looking for a resort to enjoy with kids, or a couple looking for adults-only luxury, we have a great range of fantastic resorts across the island of Sal.”

Jennifer Newman, Airline Relations Manager, London Gatwick said:

“We are delighted easyJet has chosen to launch its new route to Cape Verde from London Gatwick, offering passengers more choice and value this summer.”

easyJet is London Gatwick’s largest airline. Last year easyJet celebrated carrying 250 million passengers to and from the airport, with its first Gatwick flight taking place on 16 December 1999 to Geneva, before the carrier opened its base there in 2002.

easyJet connects London Gatwick to major cities across Europe like Paris and Amsterdam, as well as to a range of fantastic leisure destinations such as Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Turkey and Egypt, offering value great fares and a convenient schedule for both leisure and business.
