France strike: Foreign Office warns of Easter cross-channel disruption

Saturday, 05 Apr, 2023 0

The Foreign Office has warned of more cross-channel travel chaos this weekend due to the looming France strike.

It says there is a ‘possibility of delays over the Easter bank holiday weekend as high levels of cross-channel traffic on all routes are expected.’

It urges travellers to check for the latest update from their travel operator before leaving.

“Where possible, make sure you have a confirmed booking before you travel.”

It is prudent to plan for possible delays, it says.

“There is also ongoing France strike action affecting multiple sectors including transport networks. “

“Coordinated strike action and large-scale demonstrations are next planned for Thursday 6 April.”

FCO also warns of potential delays arriving at Portugal airports.

Immigration officers are set to walk out before the weekend for several days.

“Between 6-10 April there may be travel disruption due to industrial action.”

“If you are travelling over this period, allow additional time to clear border control.”
