Disney scraps $1 billion Florida campus plans
The Walt Disney Co. is ditching its planned $1 billion office campus in Florida.
It decided not to progress with the relocation of offices from its California base.
It had earmarked a huge campus site near Orlando which would have accommodated more than 2,000 admin staff.
It would have meant many relocating from California.
The plan is now dead, due to ‘changing business conditions,’ Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro told staff in a memo.
He didn’t elaborate but The New York Times reported that Disney’s very public feud with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ‘figured prominently’ in the decision to pull out of the deal.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has already raised questions about its future investments in parks in Florida due to the ongoing flight with the Governor.
The company and the state recently file lawsuits against each other.
