$10 million to sell US abroad
The US Congress approved $10 million to market the US internationally as a travel destination.
The Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) lobbied for the money.
TIA president and CEO William S. Norman said: “The timing couldn’t be better as the current government-funded marketing initiatives in the UK gets underway.”
TIA helped kick off the US Department of Commerce campaign through a joint news conference earlier this month at World Travel Market in London.
The Commerce Department is also using TIA’s SeeAmerica.org.uk consumer Web site for its UK campaign.
TIA plans to seek additional promotional funds in the future.
