12% commissions in San Diego
The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering customized art/shop/dine packages commissionable at 12%, according to Jackie Williams, director of travel industry sales.
She told TravelMole:
“We reinstated this program for March to June to ramp up for summer business. This is the first time we have supported a specific tour operator’s commission program.”
The packages, which start at $249 per person, are available through Private Label Travel.
About 8% of bookings to the upscale San Diego area are done by travel agents, according to the San Diego County 2003 Overnight Profile compiled by CIC Research, she said.
Her office monthly sends out a fax blast that goes to top producing AAA offices and top producers from other offices.
There is a special page for agents on the web site called Travel Agent Discount brochure.
Visitor profiles show that the area tends to attract families and couples making $85,000 or more a year. They tend to look for wineries, art and cultural offerings.
Main attractions of San Diego include its balmy climate, 70 miles of beaches, unique neighborhoods, deep sea fishing, and such attractions as the world-famous San Diego Zoo and Legoland.
