12th FINA World Championships announces Crown Towers as Official Hotel
The 2007 World Swimming Championships Corporation has announced that Crown Towers will be the Championship’s Official Hotel.
Over 2000 athletes from up to 175 countries, as well as team officials and staff, FINA representatives and members of the international media will stay in Melbourne hotel accommodation during the World Championships which begin on 17 March 2007, with all visiting VIP’s and technical officials attending the Championships staying at the official hotels, Crown Towers and Crown Promenade.
Michael Scott, Chief Executive Officer of the 2007 World Swimming Championships Corporation said, “We will host the fittest, the strongest and the best aquatic athletes from around the world and naturally, we would want these aquatic super stars to enjoy their stay in Melbourne and are delighted that Crown Towers, one of the leading hotels in Australia will be supporting us in this event.”
Peter Crinis, Executive General Manager of Crown Towers and Crown Promenade Hotel is honoured that both Crown hotels would be hosting this international sporting event together with the events capital of the world, Melbourne, saying“The cream of the aquatic super stars from across the globe including world-record holders and Olympic Gold Medalists’ will make Melbourne their home for two weeks during the World Championships, and we are honoured to be a part of it.”
He added, “We look forward to working closely with the organisers of the World Championships to make this event a memorable experience for the visiting athletes and officials, to create another world-class event in Melbourne’s calendar”.
