33 killed in Brazil air crash
Thirty passengers and three crew members have been killed in a plane crash in a remote region of Brazil.
According to the BBC News website, the crash happened on Friday night as the Rico Airlines plane was about to land in the city of Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
The website reports that rescuers have found no survivors, and that recovering bodies from the site is proving difficult because of the rugged terrain in the region.
The plane was reportedly en route to Manaus from the border town of Sao Paulo de Olivenca when it lost radio contact and then disappeared from air traffic control radar screens.
After a six-hour search, the wreckage was discovered about nine miles from the city.
