93-cent room rate extended
Here’s a true case where lemons were turned into lemonade: a computer error led the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney Resort to sell rooms for 93 cents instead of $93 dollars.
The rate was posted on the Holiday Inn Web site for about 17 hours. About 400 guests took the reduced price, saving more than $110,000.
General Manager Glenn Aycock, after getting over the shock, decided to extend a special five-night package. As part of a grand re-opening, the hotel is offering 93 cent rooms for a fifth night for guests who stay four nights at the regular rate.
The offer is valid from 10 September through 24 December, but rooms have to be booked by 30 September.
Guests can book by calling the hotel directly and asking for the “Buy Four, Get One at 93 cents” package.
Part of the hotel was closed after the hurricanes last year, but plans are for it to be entirely open on 1 August after remodeling.
